The Area

Mount Maunganui is the beach town part of the city of Tauranga (population 100,000). Mount Maunganui is well-known for its surf, sand and sun – it is beautiful all year round. There are two quality golf courses, great shopping malls, exciting surfing, salt hot water spa as well as a brand new indoor swimming complex and arguably the best weather in New Zealand.

The Tauranga District has a warm temperate climate with day temperatures of 25 °Celsius in summer and 15 °C in winter. The average annual rainfall is 1350mm.

The Mount is 206 km from Auckland, (2.5 hours by road and 30 minutes by plane) 86 km from Rotorua, 107 km from Hamilton and 548 km from Wellington.

The airport is just 7 minutes drive from the school and transfers from Auckland can be easily arranged.

Close by is a Polytechnic (www.boppoly.ac.nz) for tertiary study as well as an annex of The University of Waikato. We link with the local High School (www.mmc.school.nz) for transfer of our students into their programmes. 5 minutes up the road is the Mount Maunganui Language Centre (www.study-english.com) – our local language school.
