Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to Mount Maunganui Intermediate
Ours is a time of new beginnings. We have the opportunity to renew and change, to invent and create. More than any of us can do alone this is something that we must plan together.” (Hal Lawson 1995)
My name is Lisa Morresey. I am proud to be the newly appointed principal to Mount Maunganui Intermediate School. With a new Board of Trustees, a dedicated staff and an incredibly supportive school community we are embarking on exciting time of change. As a staff we are committed to building upon our strengths and to continue the journey to ensure curriculum delivery of the highest quality. As a Board we are also beginning extensive work in property to refurbish amenities and our classrooms into twenty first century learning spaces. By local Iwi we have been challenged as a school to reach “the summit of the mountain – te taumata o te maunga.” This will require had work and dedication from us all, but we look forward to making these aspirations a reality.
As a school community, I encourage you to all be involved in your child’s education. If you have any worries or concerns about any aspect of your child’s schooling please contact your child’s teacher or a member of the leadership team. I have an open door policy and I will endeavour to be available for you, as the need arises. Please do not hesitate to pop in or to make an appointment to meet with me.
To the students I look forward to getting to know you all. I am committed to working with you in your classrooms, the playground and outdoors. We have high expectations for your learning and behaviour and as you move from primary to Intermediate schooling the expectations will increase accordingly. We look forward to an exciting year in 2011.
