Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to Mount Maunganui Intermediate
My name is Lisa Morresey and I am proud to be the principal of Mount Maunganui Intermediate School.
With a supportive Board of Trustees, a dedicated staff and an incredibly supportive school community we are continuing our journey as we strive for excellence in the education of emerging adolescents. As a staff we are committed to building upon our strengths, developing our skills, and deliberate acts of teaching to maximise student achievement ensuring curriculum delivery of the highest quality. As a Board we have also embarked on extensive property work to refurbish amenities and our classrooms into twenty first century learning spaces. This is an exciting time for Mount Maunganui Intermediate as we are moving forward and this direction was positively affirmed in our recent ERO review.
Mount Maunganui Intermediate is a smaller Intermediate School. This offers us a number of advantages. The principal and staff know their students closely. Curriculum, organisation and behaviour management is more responsive to meet student needs and students receive greater access to learning, sporting and cultural opportunities.
As a school community, I encourage you to all be involved in your child’s education. If you have any worries or concerns about any aspect of your child’s schooling please contact your child’s teacher or a member of the leadership team. I have an open door policy and I will endeavour to be available for you, as the need arises. Please do not hesitate to make an appointment to meet with me.
We have high expectations for our students and behaviour and as you move from Primary to Intermediate schooling the expectations will increase accordingly. You have come from excellent contributing schools and we have been impressed with the improvements in student behaviour and learning across our school. I am thoroughly committed to working with you all in your classrooms, the playground and outdoors.
We look forward to an outstanding year in 2012.
