About Us

 

Mount Maunganui Intermediate is a primary school with approximately 500 students drawn from Mount Maunganui and Papamoa.

 

Our School will be organised into syndicates of Year 7 and Year 8 classes under the guidance of senior staff members.  The home room teacher has the greatest contact with your child and is the person who you or your child goes to in the first instance if help or advice is required.

 

The children in each syndicate often meet together for award presentations, singing and sports.  We regularly group across the classes in subject areas to allow for individual differences and needs to be met.  These groups are flexible and are altered as children learn.

Often a concern can be resolved by a telephone call to your child’s teacher.

If further support is required contact the Principal or a Deputy Principal.

 

Contact with parents is valued and welcomed.

 

REPORTING TO PARENTS

Interviews concerning the welfare and progress of children are encouraged at anytime.  In addition, formal written reports will be sent home.  Parent/Teacher interviews will be held in Feb/March and July/August and on request at any other time during the year.  All students are important and their achievements and concerns are shared with you as parents.  Mutual trust and co-operation in regard to concerns will ensure the solving of these is to everyone’s satisfaction.

“A problem shared is a problem halved”.

 

We welcome parents in the school.  During the first few months this is most important.  We look forward to meeting you at learning conferences early in the year.

 

Staff will contact parents when a need arises to discuss concerns, or to pass on news of successful achievements.

 

For students enrolling at Colleges other than Mount Maunganui College we will provide [to the College upon request] a copy of their recent report.
